Pressure Ulcer Awareness
The Pressure Ulcer Awareness Task Force selected five successful candidates to participate in a pilot program that ran from April through September 2006.
The results from the pilot indicate that the program is an extremely effective way to reduce the prevalence of pressure ulcers in facilities, regardless of type: long-term care, acute care, or mixed care.
But don't take our word for it. Visit the Prevent Pressure Ulcers Web site at www.preventpressureulcers.ca to see the results for yourself: just click on the Information for Facilities link near the bottom of the home page. This will take you to a section devoted to you: the health-care clinician or administrator who is concerned about pressure ulcers. The pages in this section will tell you want you need to know about the program: what is is, how it differs from other prevention programs, and how your facility can benefit. After you read through the information we're sure you'll want to become part of this national CAWC initiative.
Beginning in March 2007 the program will be available for purchase by facilities. When you see the potential cost savings you will understand why your facility cannot afford not to have it!
