CAWC Privacy Policy

Your Privacy is Our Priority
The CAWC collects information from our members and those attending our seminars, conferences and other events as well as those who order items or request information from the CAWC.

The CAWC has implemented a privacy code for the protection of personal information. We have also appointed a Privacy Officer to answer questions you may have regarding our privacy policies and to ensure that these policies are being followed. We only collect the information required to properly interact with individuals interested in wound care and the items, information or educational programs offered by the CAWC. This policy has been created to ensure that your privacy is protected. If you require additional information, our Privacy Officer may be reached by e-mailing cawc@sympatico.net and entering Privacy Officer in the subject line.

The information we collect can be organized into two areas:

Basic contact information such as name, address, phone and e-mail
Financial information such as credit card information, which is submitted to pay for various CAWC activities or items

We collect this information in order to interact effectively with parties across Canada who are interested in wound care. This information is provided directly by the individual usually for registration, purchasing or membership purposes.

The information received is used by the CAWC in three ways:

Promotion: To inform wound carers and other interested parties about the activities of the CAWC and to provide these individuals with various mailings, journals and other communications regarding the association.
Registration: To register individuals for CAWC activities such as seminars, subscriptions and conferences.
Financial: To process payments for registration and purchases.

The contact information may be shared with other qualified wound-care organizations that wish to send information to those in our database. These groups may include educational institutions, other wound-care associations and organizations, relevant publishing enterprises and wound-care corporations involved directly with wound care or CAWC activities such as our educational events. These groups maintain privacy policies consistent with those of the CAWC. Our information is never sold or provided to any individual, group or organization outside the wound-care/medical education continuum.

The financial information we collect is used for the single purpose for which it was sent. It is archived in a secure database and destroyed following the event. Payment information may be maintained for one year as required by merchant agreements. This information is closely guarded and never revealed, shared or used again.

Providing Consent
You have several choices regarding the use of the information you have supplied or will supply to the CAWC.

You may do nothing, in which case the CAWC will judiciously use this information as described above. No action on your part will imply consent.
You may refuse consent to share your information with our partners across the wound care continuum. In this case you will receive information directly from the CAWC but not from any associated organizations. For example you will be removed from the magazine subscription lists and from receiving information from wound-care companies.
You may refuse or withdraw your consent for the CAWC to use your information for any reason other than that for which it was initially supplied. Making this choice will remove you from the CAWC database and from our mailing lists once the activity/purchase for which you provided the information has been completed.

If you would like to exercise choices 2 or 3, please e-mail our privacy officer and we will act appropriately.

In the future, all CAWC activities that require personal information will contain information usage options to be completed by the individual.
