1. President's Synopsis from Vancouver conference:
Vancouver conference was a smashing success, a big thanks to everyone
involved from the registration desk, to the organizing committee to
the presenters. Overall the evaluations were very positive with comments
about everything from the excellent facility to the improvement in food.
The sessions were new and inventive, offering 76 separate sessions for
participants to choose from. The Power Breakfast caused a bit of a still
from the Winnipeg contingent, who thought it started a bit early, causing
them to appear for the session in their pajamas with blankets and pillows
in tow. All were on the edge of their seat learning about the complex
and frightening nature of Biofilms. Lymphedema was well explored with
much entheusiasm thanks to the Vodder Institute. The exhibit hall was
consistently packed with curious participants wanting to learn all they
could from the dynamic sales force. For the first time membership attended
CAWC forums and brought their concerns and thoughts on how the CAWC
can support best practice in research, practice, public policy and education.
The membership provided the committees direction for action in the upcoming
year. We have a busy year ahead, watch the resource library in www.cawc.net
for any new initiatives.
