New Investigator Award
The New Investigator Award will be presented for outstanding achievement in Clinical and Laboratory Research by a new investigator. This is your chance to present at Canada’s premier wound care meeting and make a name for yourself in the field of wound care. To qualify and support your application to be considered for the award, you must:
- Submit an abstract to be considered in the category of clinical or laboratory research that has not been previously published.
- Be the primary first author of and have therefore made significant contributions to the research project described in the abstract.
- Have completed the research project as partial fulfillment of in the process of obtaining a postgraduate degree (MD, Master's, or PhD), postgraduate course/certificate (Enterostomal Therapy, Nurse Practitioner, IIWCC), or while a postdoctoral fellow or resident.
- Not currently hold a part-time or full-time appointment at an academic institution at a rank of assistant professor or higher; no theld an academic position of any type for more than 4 years.
- Agree to attend the annual meeting of CAWC to present the research work described in the abstract.
- Submit a letter outlining your career plans and commenting on how these plans will promote/increase research activities of the CAWC.
- Submit a letter of reference from your mentor or supervisor providing proof of your current registration in a postgraduate program or course, verifying your contribution to the research work, and commenting on your research potential. Your supervisor’s full contact information—address, phone number, e-mail—must be included, so that he/she may be contacted to support your application.
If selected, you will receive $1000 and your conference registration.
Awards will not be given to individuals unless they provide all information at the time of abstract submission and fulfill all the qualifications listed above.
