The following are the common themes that were expressed in the comments by 209 (62%) respondents

EDUCATION-

Workshops, inservices, lunch and learn, distance education programs, competencies( debridement, ABPI), certification for nurses in wound care, regional education forums biannually, interpretation of research, provide teaching sessions for teams or wound care leaders, preceptorships, develop manuals, regional conferences and utilize local talent for workshops, satellite conferences, infection control, mentoring programs, advocate for wound care in nursing school programs, educate physicians

Communication

Access to experts by website, e-mail and phone

Access to guidelines on-line

Support research and dissemination of research results from different sites

Develop provincial guidelines

Do cost-effective analysis of high cost dressings and report the results

Develop position or policy statements

Provide recommendations for best practice

Bi-annual update for membership

Provide literature in nursing journals ( Canadian nurse)
