Session 1 - Knowledge Learning: Understanding of the CAWC Best Practice
Recommendations
- An interactive session that explores wound-healing principles, wound-bed
preparation, pressure ulcer, venous ulcer and diabetic foot ulcer management,
providing a framework for practice
- Prerequisite for S2 and S3
Objectives
By the end of S1 you should be able to:
- Recognize the domains of learning involved in implementing best-practice
initiatives: knowledge, skills and values
- Review the role of the health-care professional in wound management
- Identify and explore through interactive lectures and case-study discussions
the complex relationship of wound healing based on holistic patient
assessment
- Gain a better understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of wound
care and the team approach to healing
- Develop a better contextual understanding of the past, present and
future of Canadian wound care
- Have built the foundation required for the skills acquisition sessions
