Education Committee Update: February 2005

Membership: Heather Orsted (chair), Connie Harris, Nancy Parslow, Patti Barton, Edie Attrell, Dr Stephan Landis, Dr David Keast, Louise Forest Lalande

Goal: The primary mission of the Education Committee is to facilitate the development and implementation of educational material for members of the CAWC and to provide a forum through which members can share ideas and concerns related to wound care education.

Conference Planning Sub-committee
Completed Activities:

  • Reviewed the critical path for conference planning
  • Planned, presented and evaluated 2004 Annual conference
  • Recommendations sent to 2005 conference planning committee re: 2004 conference recommendations / registrant evaluations

Current Activities:

  • Plan, support the delivery of and evaluate the bilingual 2005 conference in Montreal

Regional Education Sub-committee
Completed Activities:

  • S3 completed and sent out to all Seminar Series registrants
  • Four city tour completed in Winnipeg, Montreal (French), Toronto and Halifax
  • S Series (1&2) revision in progress
  • Provide a joint position paper with the Canadian Association for Enterostomal Therapy (CAET) on certification

Current Activities:

  • Complete S1 and S2 Revision
  • Support the delivery of and evaluate 3 city tour in Calgary, Ottawa and Quebec City (French)
  • Work collaboratively with other Canadian professional organizations towards Canadian wound care certification
  • Support the development and roll out of the Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program
