Objectives
The CAWC facilitates care for individuals suffering from wounds by:
-
promoting improved management of wound care through evidence-based
clinical practice, education, public policy and research initiatives
-
linking community groups with national and international forums
for the exchange of knowledge pertaining to the practice of wound
care
-
stimulating investigation, research and education for both patients
and care providers
-
disseminating knowledge relating to wound care through lectureships,
seminars, scholarships and similar vehicles
The CAWC addresses these objectives by producing its annual conference,
maintaining an interactive CAWC Web site, publishing an electronic quarterly
newsletter and by facilitating communication between all parties interested
in wound care.
In addition, CAWC goals include:
-
Standardization - enhancing consistency and co-ordination of wound
care across the Canadian health care continuum
-
Awareness - promoting awareness regarding wounds as a significant
health problem
-
Evidence-Based Practice - enhancing the scientific rigor of wound
research and promoting valid professional standards for wound care
-
Defining the Issues - promoting awareness of the impact of the changing
health care environment on wound care
-
Globalization - encouraging co-operation between the CAWC and other
international, national and regional associations and groups involved
in wound care
-
Growth and Participation - increasing association membership and
the involvement of CAWC members
The Canadian Association of Wound Care offers its members a broad range
of tangible benefits. However your decision to join the CAWC should be
fueled by the belief that together, as an organized community-based association,
we can improve wound care for patients, clinicians, caregivers and related
organizations. We need your ongoing support to build your association
and realize our objectives.
