Professional education

The Canadian Association of Wound Care (CAWC) places great emphasis on effective and accessible professional education as a means to improve wound management and prevention across Canada.

The CAWC Institute of Wound Management and Prevention (CAWC Institute) offers you the opportunity to learn about wound management and prevention in an interconnected, interprofessional, and collaborative program that leads to better practice and improved health for your patients.

Registering with the CAWC Institute provides you with an online practice reflective portfolio, as well as the opportunity to attend one- to four-day events that provide you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to improve wound management in your facility or institution.

There are six levels of programming, including the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC), which the CAWC is offering as part of its partnership with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. A certificate of completion is provided with each level successfully completed.

The CAWC also seeks to improve wound management and prevention across Canada by publishing its journal, Wound Care Canada. The CAWC launched its journal in 2003 and it has since become a cornerstone of the Association.
